TWRP Recovery: How to install, wipe option and TWRP files for Xiaomi devices

Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) is an open-source software custom recovery image for Android-based devices. It provides a touchscreen-enabled interface that allows users to install third-party firmware and back up the current system which is functions often unsupported by stock recovery images. It is, therefore, often installed when flashing, installing, or rooting Android devices, although it isn’t dependent on a device being rooted prior to installation.

How to Install TWRP?

  • First, download the TWRP file suitable for your device from the dropdown menu below and copy it to your ADB folder.
  • Turn off your phone. Start your phone in fastboot mode by pressing the Volume Down and Power keys together. (Phone screen needs to have a repairman droid image)
  • In the ADB folder, hold down the “shift” key and right-click with the mouse and select the open command window here option.
  • Install TWRP on your device with the codes written below.

Wipe Options

Wipe with TWRP options and what they do are as follows:

  • Format Data:  Formats the entire section where the data is kept. It deletes apps and data, pictures, videos, media files and everything stored.
  • Data Wipe (Wipe Data): Deletes apps and their data but not pictures, videos, etc. in internal memory. leaves content.
  • Cache Clean (Wipe Cache):   Deletes OTA files, temporary recovery data and logs.

  • System Cleaning (Wipe System):  Deletes the system partition where firmware and ROM are kept.
