Xiaomi reportedly testing Android 11 for Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro

Just a few days ago news came out that the Redmi Note 8/8T and Redmi Note 8 Pro are going to be updated to Android 11 and are being tested internally. This is a big step and in a positive direction because of the aforementioned fact that “MediaTek powered devices don’t get regular updates or updates at all”.

It has changed Xiaomi’s update roadmap because for the longest time it was believed that they won’t update their year-old budget devices, especially with an Android version upgrade of all things. It is also worth mentioning that on the open-source front, there is not a lot of custom ROM development for the devices in question, so it is a praiseworthy thing Xiaomi is doing.
