Big Change: Google’s Android 12 may allow sharing Wi-Fi password

Android 12 is set to come with new features and changes and following with that the new information claiming the upcoming operating system will allow sharing Wi-Fi passwords. In detail, a new submission from Google engineer Abel Tesfaye to AOSP aims to adjust the “Share Wi-Fi” page to provide a nearby sharing button.

We already know that the smartphone or devices running on Android 10 allow users to easily share Wi-Fi passwords in the form of QR codes through the Wi-Fi Easy Connect protocol. For the change company working on a more secure method for sharing Wi-Fi passwords.

To do so this function needs to be clicked and the ‘Nearby Share’ will be activated so that the user can share the QR code with nearby peoples. Since Nearby Share can work at close range, it does not require physical contact or scanning any QR code, which means that users can share Wi-Fi passwords in different rooms.

Scanning the QR code is still a bit difficult that’s why Google is working on a new solution that allows users to use the company’s “Nearby Share” feature to share the generated QR code with others more easily. As per the previous reports, Google may launch the first Android 12 developer preview version in the coming month.
