Google will set up separate files for children in its Google TV to facilitate parental control

Google announced today that it will add to its Google TV software a requirement that will still be popular with customers: setting up separate files for children.

The Children’s Profile will let you choose which apps are available to younger audiences. If your child’s Google account already exists, you can add it as a child profile-but you don’t need a Google account, you can simply add the child’s name and age to create a profile.

Similar to Google TV for adults, children will see rows of recommended programs suitable for their age. You can also choose to share the purchased movies and TV shows with the Google Play Family Library to your child’s archives.

Parents can set daily viewing time limits for their children’s files, and enter the specified sleeping time. “Before the final’time is up’ screen appears and ends their viewing time, children will receive three countdown warning signs,” Google TV product manager Saleh Altayyar wrote in a blog post. “But when this is not a night where you need to go to school tomorrow, you can choose to add some extra bonus time.”

Parents can prevent children from switching to normal files by setting file lock, which requires a PIN code to bypass. You can also view Google’s Family Link smart phone app to view the children spend in their favorite applications how much time to stop and lifted applications, control application activity, and so on.

The background on the children’s profile can be customized through various themes, and Google said it will add profile avatars “in the coming weeks.” Remember, although Google TV is adding children’s files, it still does not provide the ability to create multiple adult files-hope this is not far away.

The Children’s Archive will be available on Chromecast, Google TV and other Google TV devices in the United States starting this month, and will be subsequently expanded globally “in the coming months.”
