Google introduced many new features for ChromeOS on ChromeBook 10th OS anniversary

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the birth of the Chromebook, Google today introduced many new features for ChromeOS. One of the most noteworthy features is the Phone Hub, which allows users to reply to text messages on the Chromebook after the Android phone is connected to the Chromebook device, check the phone’s power, enable Wi-Fi hotspots, locate and so on.

The Phone Hub is integrated into the taskbar widget, and after clicking the extension, it can even display the Chrome webpage you recently visited on the mobile phone. For Android and Chromebook users, this is undoubtedly a very useful feature. Google will also enable its Wi-Fi synchronization feature on more devices, allowing users to synchronize use on Android phones and other Chrome OS devices after connecting to a configured Wi-Fi network.

Another noteworthy feature added is Nearby Share, which is a bit similar to Airdrop, which allows Chromebooks to send and receive files between other Android phones or Chrome OS devices. Google said that this feature will land in Chrome OS in the next few months, and finally provide a complete AirDrop competitor for its notebook operating system.

In other respects, Google has also added a new screenshot tool to the Quick Settings menu of Chrome OS. Just like the name, this will allow you to record your screens or screenshots and quickly access them from the “Tote” space of the Chrome OS Shelf.

The clipboard has also been improved in Chrome OS, allowing you to save the five most recent items so you can paste them elsewhere without switching windows. The launcher key will provide access to this updated clipboard experience. Quick Answers is another newly added feature that allows you to right-click on a word in Chrome OS to get a definition, translation, or unit conversion. This is very similar to the functionality currently present in macOS.

Google is even improving the virtual desktop feature of Chrome OS-the desktop. When you restart the Chromebook, it will now restore all windows to the correct virtual desktop. You can also right-click on the top of the open window to send the application to a different virtual desktop.
