Twitter is testing a new preview feature that shows pictures on the timeline

According to the latest reports, Twitter is solving some of the big problems encountered when sharing photos and videos, including how to better preview the way pictures are displayed on the timeline. Although Twitter is known for its relatively concise 280 character limit, many people embrace Twitter to share multimedia. For Twitter, figuring out what fans will see can be unexpectedly tricky.

This is because although users can upload photos of any aspect, Twitter’s algorithm will determine which part of the image will be cropped to make it conform to the standard thumbnail preview. The rules vary according to the number of photos added each time: Twitter can support up to 4 photos or one video per tweet.

This may mean that, in some cases, the thumbnail has little to do with the intended focus of the image. This makes some people feel frustrated. Now, Twitter says that they will understand how to make the picture more transparent-although it has not completely solved the problem.

The company said today that it is currently testing on iOS and Android apps. “When you post a picture on Twitter, the way the picture is displayed in the tweet creator will determine how it will appear in the tweet creator. Performance on the timeline.” Basically, if a user posts a single portrait image on Twitter–that is, an image that is wider and taller–the entire image will be displayed on the timeline, not just Part of it.

Unfortunately, this does not seem to be extended to handle multi-picture tweets. Or at this point, understanding how Twitter’s cropping algorithm determines which part of the image is the most important. Another change in the media is around quality. Another test on iOS and Android apps is the upload of high-quality images. This will support 4K pictures instead of the current limit of 5MB per picture.

However, users first need to actively enable this feature. The “Data Usage” section of the Twitter application settings has added high-quality pictures and high-quality picture upload options. This option can only be enabled under WiFi or cellular networks and WiFi connections. Not everyone can see these new features, Twitter said it will test them in the next few weeks to see how users react.
