Android version of Chrome already supports freeze tabs and the startup speed can be increased by 13%

Google recently launched version 89 of the Chrome browser, which has improved the browser’s configuration files, reading list, etc., and made more improvements for desktop devices. Yesterday, Google published a blog post detailing the memory management and performance improvements in Chrome 89 for Android.

One of the improvements is freeze tabs. Google claims that after enabling the freeze tabs feature, the launch speed of the Android version of the Chrome browser will increase by 13%. Google said that Chrome can now save lightweight tabs, which are similar in size to screenshots and support operations such as scrolling, zooming, and clicking links. When the browser starts, these “frozen tabs” will be opened by default, and the actual tabs will be loaded in the background, allowing users to enter the page faster.

The speed of loading pages and browsers can be increased by 8.5%, and scrolling and input delays and smoothness can be improved by 28%.
