Apple continues to dominate the wearable device market in the Q4 2021

According to the latest shipment statistics released by IDC today, Apple will continue to dominate the wearable device market in the fourth quarter of 2020. During the quarter, Apple sold 55.6 million wearable devices, with a market share of 36.2%.

This is the same as Apple’s market share in the fourth quarter of 2019, but overall device shipments have increased from 43.7 million units in the fourth quarter of 2019. Apple’s competitors simply cannot be compared with it. It is estimated that Xiaomi’s wearable device sales are 13.5 million units, with a market share of 8.8%, followed by Samsung with 13 million units and Huawei’s 10.2 million units.

Thanks to the different pricing ranges of Apple Watch Series 6, SE, and Series 3, Apple Watch shipments are estimated to have increased by 45.6%. Shipments of AirPods Pro and AirPods Max have surged during the quarter.

Throughout 2020, IDC believes that Apple has sold 151.4 million wearable devices, accounting for 34.1% of the market. Xiaomi is the second-ranked wearable device manufacturer in 2020, with shipments of 50.7 million units, followed by Huawei and Samsung, with shipments of 43.5 million and 40 million units, respectively.

Apple did not provide specific shipment quantities of Apple Watch and AirPods models, so IDC’s data is based on its estimated data. During the earnings conference call in January, Apple said that compared to the fourth quarter of 2020, wearables are expected to set a new revenue record in the first quarter of fiscal 2021. Apple’s wearable device business is equivalent to a Fortune 120 company.
