The Windows 10 KB5001649 update is now trying to install on the 20H2/2004 version of the device, but apparently many users encountered the 0x80070541 error code and could not install it. According to Microsoft, this optional “emergency update” was released earlier today to address the blue screen of death and other issues reported by users.
Interestingly, the installation of KB5001649 failed and 0x80070541 appeared. The installation error “0x80070541” is probably due to a compatibility issue caused by the Windows 10 March 2021 update released on March 9.

“We were unable to install this update, but you can try again (0x80070541). 2021-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5001649),” the error message is shown in the screenshot below:
This problem seems to be common, and we can reproduce it on many of our devices. For those users who encounter problems, you can manually download and install the cumulative update from the Microsoft Update Catalog, or simply pause the update.
It is also important to understand that this is an optional update, which means you don’t have to apply it unless you really need to fix the blue screen when printing documents.
