S&P Dow Jones Indices says Xiaomi is eligible to be included in the index again

S&P Dow Jones Indices said on Monday that Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is eligible to be included in the index again after a federal judge suspended the US investment ban on the company. In mid-January, the Department of Defense under the administration of former US President Trump added Xiaomi and eight other companies to a list, demanding that Americans sell their rights in these companies before the deadline.

S&P Dow Jones Indices earlier this month removed certain stocks on the list from the index, including Xiaomi. However, U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras suspended the investment ban on Xiaomi, saying that the U.S. government’s procedures for including it in the ban had “serious flaws.”

S&P Dow Jones Indices said on Monday that the index that removed Xiaomi will review the eligibility of Xiaomi Securities in the next re-adjustment of the portfolio. The index provider added that it will not consider re-incorporating map technology company Luokung Technology into the index until May 8.
