Microsoft says free games and party chat will not require Xbox Live Gold membership

Microsoft is preparing to cancel the Xbox Live gold membership requirement for Xbox free games. In addition, the service is no longer needed to find groups and party chats. These changes are currently being tested in Xbox Insiders and should be available to all players soon. These changes were announced only a few months after Microsoft tried to increase the price of Xbox Live Gold membership.

After being widely opposed, Microsoft withdrew this statement and promised that free games no longer require gold membership. Other features are free for all users, which also confirms Xbox rumors Live Gold members will be canceled completely, although this has not been officially confirmed.

Although Xbox Live Gold members have been receiving attention in the past few years, Xbox Game Pass is more popular. Games like “Outriders” will be launched next week (but only for console players), and there are reports that games from Ubisoft’s own subscription service Ubisoft+ may also join the service.
