Edge web widgets get floating buttons and search layout optimization

Microsoft recently began testing a new widget that brings Bing search and personalized news streams to the desktop through the Edge browser. This new widget includes a floating button similar to the Firefox picture-in-picture button and search-related content layout.

Microsoft has not yet officially announced, but Edge Insider users have been invited to test this new feature:

  • In addition to the center console and vertical layout, the widget also provides search layout options.
  • You can perform related searches in the top search bar.
  • The user can enable/disable the floating button in the gear icon menu.
  • When you minimize the widget, the floating button will appear on the desktop and always be in the forefront position.
  • The user can drag this button to any position on the screen, and it can also be hidden at the top, left and right sides, but it cannot be hidden at the bottom of the screen.
  • Users can fix widgets and hide them automatically.
  • The user can view it through the Settings menu> Settings> New Tab Page> Launch Web Widget.
