Amazon provides Luna cloud gaming platform with HD streaming options as low as 720p

In order to stream games to various types of devices, many manufacturers have proposed cloud gaming solutions based on remote servers. With the support of powerful back-end hardware, players can even experience resource-intensive AAA masterpieces smoothly on TV/mobile devices. However, the higher the resolution, the stricter the bandwidth and delay requirements. To this end, Amazon Luna decided to give a more practical 720p HD resolution option.

Although 1080p/ 4K has become a mainstream resolution option for localhost platforms, cloud gaming platforms are obviously more constrained by resource and bandwidth consumption. Before ensuring smooth play, higher resolution is obviously just a luxury, which is obviously the main reason why most cloud gaming platforms are only promoted in areas with better Internet connections.

Interestingly, in the video resolution setting interface of the Amazon Luna platform, we have already seen the newly added 720p HD option, and the official estimated traffic cost is only 5GB per hour. For players with limited bandwidth, this is obviously very attractive. In contrast, 1080p and upcoming 4K cloud gaming options require estimated traffic of 10GB / 23GB per hour, respectively.
