Tim Cook said that Apple is not opposed to digital advertising

Beginning with iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5 and tvOS 14.5, Apple will require app developers to obtain user permission before they can track their activities for the purpose of targeted advertising. This is an initiative called “App Tracking Transparency” Part of privacy measures.

Prior to the implementation of application tracking transparency, Apple CEO Tim Cook accepted a privacy focus interview with the Toronto Star. He told the Canadian newspaper that Apple “does not oppose digital advertising”, but believes that users should have transparency and control. Because it involves advertising purposes that are tracked by the app.

We are not opposed to digital advertising. I think digital advertising will flourish under any circumstances because people are spending more and more time online and less and less time on TV. And digital advertising will do well in any situation. The question is, do we allow such detailed files to be created without your consent?

When asked about some large companies, such as Procter & Gamble, which are said to have been trying to find ways to bypass app tracking transparency, Cook said:

Any excuses for changes may be because the company will no longer be able to track users without their knowledge, resulting in fewer data collected and no user profile can be established. The only reason these developers get less data is that people have consciously decided not to do so, and they have not been asked before.

Cook reiterated Apple’s long-held belief that privacy is a “fundamental human right” and expressed his belief that privacy laws around the world “will eventually catch up with policies such as App Tracking Transparency.”

Cook said that App Tracking Transparency will be launched “in a few weeks”, but it is unclear when it will be. After more than two months of testing, iOS 14.5 is believed to be released soon, with many new features.
