Google will disable Play Movies, TV app on Roku and TV from June 15

Google announced that starting from June 15th, the Google Play Movies & TV application will be removed from Samsung, LG, Vizio and Roku smart TVs and all Roku set-top boxes. If you have purchased or rented movies or TV shows through the service, users can still view them in the “Your movies and shows” in the YouTube app on these devices.

If you use the Google Play Movies & TV app to access the Movies Anywhere service (allowing users to redeem codes in DVDs and Blu-rays to access your media digitally), then this adjustment will also be affected. Google has confirmed to the foreign media The Verge that users who access the content through the Movies & TV application can access it through the YouTube application.

In the process of transitioning to YouTube, there are some other considerations that need to be noted. “Your Watchlist” can no longer be viewed in the app, although your family can still share the content you purchased from the “Movie and TV” store, any content purchased in the YouTube app will not be shared with your family.
