The survey shows that Apple TV+ has the highest rating of program content

An analysis of streaming media platforms and IMDb ratings shows that Apple TV+ has the highest ratings for program content. Analysis conducted by the financial planning company Self shows that Apple TV+‘s program content has the highest IMDb score, with an average of 7.24 points.

However, since Apple’s service only offered 70 programs during the study period, it lags behind in other categories based on ratings or numbers per dollar. The study “analyzed tens of thousands of TV shows, movies and documentaries on streaming services ” and their audience IMDb scores to compile scores. In addition to Apple TV+, the survey also included Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video and Hulu.

The report pointed out that Apple TV+ “puts most of its energy on TV series”, and 47 of its 70 works fall into this category. However, Apple’s TV series average rating was affected, with an average IMDb rating of 3.9. This average level ranks last among all platforms and is converted into a score of “poor”.

Although Apple has the highest overall average, Apple is not ahead of any particular type of average ratings. Its highest-rated category is “Mystery”. Apple has an average rating of 6.76 in this category, which is described as “good”.

If you only watch 4K content, Apple TV+ has the third-highest average ratings. Its 4K program scored 7.13, closely behind Hulu (7.59) and Amazon Prime Video (7.29). Apple TV+ also ranked third in family content with a rating of 6.94. HBO Max (6.99) leads, followed by Hulu (6.97).

The survey’s ratings apply to content available on March 23, 2021. It did not take into account what appeared or changed the platform after that date. The survey ignored content that required additional purchases.
