How to check the game problem caused by KB5001330 has been fixed

In the past few weeks, Windows 10 users have repeatedly reported severe performance problems after installing the cumulative update KB5001330. Affected user feedback includes system not responding, game FPS frame rate drops, and freezes when playing certain games.

After it was first reported on April 13, users on Reddit, Twitter, YouTube and other social media sites continued to report KB5001330 with various game performance issues. In some extreme cases, the frame rate of the game will drop to 0, the game is completely stuck, the character cannot move, and the control cannot work smoothly.

In response, Microsoft stated that it had launched its own investigation, and their findings indicated that “only a small percentage of users” were affected. Although this is not a widespread problem, Microsoft has introduced an emergency patch on the server-side.

Based on early research results, it seems that this issue is caused by bad code/features added to Windows 10, which was recently disabled through a server-side update called “Known Issue Rollback”. The immediate solution to this problem involves checking for updates in the settings app and restarting the device. If the fix has been applied, you will no longer face performance and game issues.

To verify the fix for the KB5001330 issue, use these steps.

  • Open Windows PowerShell from the search.
  • Enter the following command
  • Get-ItemProperty -Path HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FeatureManagement\Overrides\4\1837593227

When you enter the above command, you should see registry key information in the PowerShell window. If the message you get is “Path not found”, then the repair is not applied. If the registry key exists, the output will be like this: Fix KB5001330. If the registry key exists and Microsoft’s hotfix does not work for some reason, another course of action is to manually delete Windows Update using DISM or WSUS command-line tools.
