Microsoft Teams new update improved mute control and optimized call experience

In the recent update, Microsoft Teams has gained some new features. First of all, I want to introduce the improvements to the mute control, which will allow the presenter/organizer to better control who can speak in the meeting. Microsoft believes that the new audio controls will provide greater flexibility and more detailed displays when managing meetings.

After the update, you can select the name of the person, and then click the “…” option to open the operation menu. In the menu, you must select “Do not allow unmute” to mute the user permanently. Currently, if the host wants to prevent a user from unmuting, he needs to mute all participants.

The new audio management feature is particularly useful for teachers because it will allow the host to mute specific users until the end of the meeting. This will also ensure that the presenter will not be interrupted by the audio interference of the attendees. In our tests, we found that this feature has been enabled in the production channels of Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft Teams optimizes the calling experience:

In December last year, Microsoft announced a new calling feature for Microsoft Teams. This includes new spam detection, call forwarding, simplified call UI, etc. For both Windows and macOS, Microsoft has transferred the entire call experience (function) to one location.

After the next update, you can find the contact page, call history, settings and dial pad in one place. This feature can benefit users who often use the Teams calling feature but cannot find advanced features. Overall, these changes will simplify the team’s call experience.
