How to hide applications on the main screen of the iOS system

If you are bored with app icons that fill the screen, the App Library introduced since iOS 14 may help you solve this problem. This function not only can reasonably categorize your applications and then display them on a separate page on the right side of the homepage but also allows certain applications to be hidden according to the user’s wishes.

Users can put frequently used and favorite applications in a prominent position, and then put more utilitarian or infrequently used applications aside. In fact, one way to keep your screen tidy is to make all your newly installed applications only appear in your application library.

Hide An Application

  • Press the application of your choice until a menu appears. The menu will include some options, depending on the function of the application (for example, if I press the Microsoft Teams application, the menu will let me make a new call or start a chat). But you will always get an option (red) to delete the application. Tap “Delete Application”
  • You can now choose to delete the app from your phone or delete it from the home screen. Choose the latter, and you will still find the app in the App Library.

Hide The Application Of The Entire Page

If you want, you can also hide a whole page of the app

  • Tap and hold a blank part of your screen until the app starts shaking.
  • Tap the dot at the bottom of the screen
  • You can now see small versions of all your screens (except the application library and today view). There is a checkmark below each visible screen; uncheck any screens you want to hide, and then click “Done” in the upper right corner.
  • To unhide any screen, follow these same instructions and replace the checkmark of the screen you want to see again.

Organize Into Folders

You can use folders on the home screen to group similar applications together to save space. You won’t hide these apps completely – they will be there. But they will be integrated in one space.

  • Long-press an application on the home screen until the icon shakes.
  • Move the app to one of the other apps you want to group with.
  • You will now have a gray icon that contains the icons of the applications in the folder. Click the icon to open the folder and access the applications in it.
  • iOS will assign a name to the folder based on the apps you put in the folder. To change the name, press and hold the folder and select “Rename” in the pop-up menu. Then type in the new name.
