Firefox’s new Proton UI has removed the Page Actions menu

Mozilla’s newly designed Firefox 89 version is expected to be released on June 1. As part of the redesign, Mozilla has decided to hide the compact density option for new users and remove the page action menu from the address bar. According to the update log of the Beta version, the new version of the user interface codenamed Proton mainly brings:

  • Floating labels brand new icons and streamlined menus
  • Updated information bar and template
  • Lighter icons, exquisite color palette
  • And a more consistent style, as well as a simplified browser Chrome and toolbar.

Every major UI change may give up some functions. Adapting to changes in the user interface is not easy, and it will not happen overnight. Some users do not like the interface of the Firefox browser, such as Australis and Photon. This may also happen on the upcoming Proton.

A major change in Proton UI is the removal of the Page Actions menu. Page Actions was introduced with the Firefox 57 version. When the user clicks the “…” button on the address bar, multiple shortcut operation options will pop up, including saving the current page to a bookmark, saving the page to Pocket, screenshots, and so on. In Firefox 89 beta and Nightly 90 versions, the Page Actions menu has been removed. This change may be reflected in subsequent versions.

Mozilla said: “In our redesign, the page operation menu has been deleted, and all its items have been moved to other parts of the interface.” You can find screenshots, email links, and save page options in the custom dialog.
