Samsung Exynos 2200 is expected to use AMD RDNA architecture GPU

According to the Tomshardware news, the Samsung Galaxy Book notebook computer will soon be equipped with the ARM-based Exynos 2200 SoC chip, which is expected to be released in the second half of this year. In addition, Samsung is also considering using this chip for smartphones.

Industry sources revealed that Exynos 2200 will be the brand’s first SoC chip equipped with AMD RDNA architecture GPU. It will be manufactured using Samsung’s 5nm LPE process, which is the same as the existing Exynos 2100 process. This chip will have a Cortex-X1 super core, 3 Cortex-A78 large cores, and 4 Cortex-A55 small cores. The notebook version of this product is expected to have a higher frequency, or integrate more than one X1 super core to improve performance.

According to the Korea Economic Daily News, industry sources said: “The new Exynos chips will have a number of performance enhancements. The use of 5nm process manufacturing is expected to improve the power utilization efficiency of notebooks. This is good for notebooks and smartphones.”

The area of the Exynos 2200 SoC chip is expected to be much larger than that of the Exynos 2100, which means higher manufacturing costs and power consumption. This puts pressure on the internal layout and power supply of the smartphone. However, this chip is expected to achieve a higher burst frequency in a notebook computer thanks to its good heat dissipation capacity and improve performance under high loads.

The previous tipster @TheGalox_ revealed that the Samsung Exynos 2200 is expected to achieve a 125% increase in CPU performance and a 250% increase in GPU performance compared to Exynos 2100, which is stronger than Apple A14 and Qualcomm 8cx.
