Apple M1 iMac’s latest running scores are released

Apple’s M1 chip version of the iMac will begin to be delivered to customers next week. Before the official release date, the performance test of the iMac has appeared on Geekbench. The performance of the M1 iMac is comparable to that of the M1 MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac mini, with an average single-core score of 1724 and an average multi-core score of 7453. This performance test is only for the entry-level M1 iMac. The entry-level M1 iMac has an eight-core CPU, a seven-core GPU and two Thunderbolt ports.

The previous-generation high-end 21.5-inch iMac achieved a single-core score of 1109 and a multi-core score of 6014. Therefore, in terms of single-core performance, the M1 iMac is 56% faster, and in terms of multi-core performance, it is 24% faster. The high-end 27-inch iMac has a single-core score of 1247 and a multi-core score of 9002. The single-core performance of the M1 iMac is 38% faster, but the multi-core performance of the Intel iMac is 25% faster.

Compared with the current high-end 27-inch iMac, the M1 Mac is superior in single-core performance but lags behind the tenth-generation Intel chip in multi-core performance. Therefore, the M1 iMac is still unable to replace the high-end 27-inch iMac. But Apple is developing higher-end chips for desktop computers. Perhaps when Apple is preparing to replace 27-inch iMacs with new models, we may see multi-core performance surpassing Intel’s M-series chips.

The price of the M1 iMac starts at $1549, and the entry-level model is equipped with an eight-core CPU, a seven-core GPU and two Thunderbolt ports. If you order today, it will be shipped in early June, but users who ordered earlier will receive their new machine immediately.
