Microsoft hints at an exciting future for Windows 10 and Surface

There are rumors that Microsoft has cancelled Windows 10X, focusing on the Sun Valley update of the desktop operating system. According to reports, during or after the Build 2021 developer conference, Microsoft will announce the new Windows, which may be a Sun Valley update, with a new start menu and other appearance changes.

During the Ignite conference, Panos Panay, Microsoft’s chief product officer, made some comments on the future of Windows. He said The future of Windows is incredible. Now, in a new article on LinkedIn, Microsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi, vice president of the company also confirmed that the company will share exciting in the coming month’s Windows and Surface update.

“For the first time in more than a year, I went back to the headquarters to record a virtual keynote speech. It was great. This time it is only for Microsoft employees, but I am excited about all the Windows and Surface updates that we will share with you in the coming months… …. Stay tuned,” Yusuf Mehdi wrote in a LinkedIn post on April 28.

Of course, this is just a vague preview, and it is not clear what changes will be made to Windows 10 and Microsoft’s Surface lineup. However, this indicates that Microsoft will somehow begin to gradually introduce Sun Valley updates in the near future. Since Windows 10X has been cancelled, the Sun Valley update is more likely to be the item referred to here.

This new preview is also consistent with previous reports, which indicate that the Sun Valley update will be finalized in June and released in October/November. As mentioned at the beginning, Panos Panay, another senior director of Microsoft, also confirmed that the “next generation of Windows” is under development and it will be “incredible”.

“I haven’t talked about the next generation of Windows and what’s next, but I can tell you that I am very excited,” Panos Panay said at the Ignite 2021 conference. In addition to Windows, it is believed that Microsoft is also developing new Surface products.

Our sources indicate that Surface Duo 2 and Surface Pro 8 are still expected to be launched in the fall of 2021. The first-generation Surface Duo was launched in 2020, and it has received mixed responses from consumers and critics. Poor cameras and poor software experience are several notches of the device.

The second-generation Surface Duo is expected to solve these shortcomings and provide better cameras and software. It is said that it will also be ready for 5G.
