In iOS 14.6, shortcuts running faster in iPhone and iPad

Apple released the official version of iOS 14.6 to the public, including improvements to AirTag, Apple Card Family, and paid subscriptions in Apple Podcasts applications. Now, Apple seems to have also quietly improved the shortcut command App. In the latest version of the operating system, the shortcut application runs faster on iPhone and iPad.

Some Twitter and Reddit users said that in the iOS 14.6 and iOS 14.7 Beta versions, shortcut commands run faster. Some users said that it takes about 30 seconds to run a 700-operation shortcut on iOS 14.5, but now it only takes 13 seconds on iOS 14.6. There are also other users who claim that the speed of the shortcut commands is slightly improved after the update, but the effect is not obvious.

9to5Mac pointed out that the test display shortcut commands have some improvements in the iOS 14.6 and iOS 14.7 beta versions. However, this will become more obvious only when you run a shortcut command that contains dozens or hundreds of operations.

In a test, 9to5Mac ran a shortcut command containing 380 operations. Among them, the iOS 14.5.1 version of the iPhone took 8 seconds to complete, while the other iOS 14.6 version of the iPhone took only 4 seconds to complete the same task. The test was conducted on the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, both of which are equipped with the A14 chip.
