These devices will get the Android 12 update

Android 12

Android 12

Android 12 is officially here! You are probably wondering whether your smartphone will also receive the update. In this comprehensive overview, we list all expectations.

When is Android 12 available for download?

The final version of Android 12 will not be released until later this year, probably in September. Then the update is available for Google’s own Pixel devices, but devices from other manufacturers have to wait longer. Below you can check the eligible devices that will get Android 12 update.

Google

If you have a smartphone from Google, you can count on receiving Android updates immediately and first. The updated policy for Android 12 is therefore simple: if you have a Pixel 3 or newer, you will receive an Android 12 update. If you use the Pixel 2 (or older), you will, unfortunately, fall out of the boat.

Samsung

Samsung has significantly improved its update policy over the past year. Not only do devices receive security patches for four (!) Years, but also three major Android version updates. If you have a recent Samsung phone, then you’re in the right place.

Nokia

HMD Global, the company that makes the Nokia smartphones, was very fast with Android updates but is not doing so well these days. Nevertheless, the company keeps its promises when it comes to updating its phones. These are the Nokia smartphones likely to get Android 12:

Motorola

At Motorola, updating is often much slower. In addition, the vast majority of devices only get one major Android update. So if you have already received Android 11 on your Motorola smartphone, you will most likely miss version 12. But if your Moto runs on Android 11 by default, you will receive Android 12. The expectations are as follows:

OnePlus

OnePlus has a good track record when it comes to releasing Android updates. For the most expensive (and most important) devices of the company, new Android versions appear quickly. These are our expectations.

Xiaomi

Xiaomi does not have a very clear update policy, but it does consider supporting its devices important. The company, therefore, updates important smartphones quickly and does not forget cheaper devices.

OPPO

Oppo was always a bit vague about its update policy but is very transparent about this these days. More expensive Oppo smartphones get two major Android updates, cheaper devices only one. As soon as the company’s exact plans are known, we will update the list below.

Sony

Sony only releases a few phones, which makes it easy to estimate which ones will get Android 12. If you have a recent Sony smartphone, you can probably expect an upgrade. Unfortunately, older devices from the company are left out.

LG

For LG it is difficult to predict which devices will get Android 12. The company has stopped making smartphones and while it promises to release Android 12 updates, it remains to be seen if this actually happens. The four devices below may get Android 12, but unfortunately, we have less good news for other LG phones.

Note: This list is not official, we will update this list as soon as we get any official information.
