OnePlus new Digital Wallpapers app launched

OnePlus’ new Digital WellPaper application has just been launched, which can transform the application usage on the phone into one of the three real-time wallpapers on the Android system. The applications are simplified into six categories-social, lifestyle and communication, entertainment, games, information and business, and tools, which are transformed into six colors in each wallpaper, which become more and more as people use these applications.

iOS and Android already have the ability to track application usage at the system level, but usually, you have to enter a dedicated menu to actually see this information. The advantage of Digital wallpaper is that it puts this usage information on the most frequently used interface in an abstract form, so you will be aware of it every time you look at your home screen or lock screen.

OnePlus said it hopes this will help Android users “visualize and better understand their daily digital habits”. Google has tried similar initiatives in the past. In 2019, it released a series of experimental digital health apps in the Play Store, including Unlock Clock, which is a real-time wallpaper that shows the number of unlocked phones that day.

OnePlus said that this new application was curated by its internal experimental software team OneLab, and it can work in standby without consuming the phone’s battery. Only generate a new image once when you unlock your phone, instead of constantly updating it in the background. More details on the use of a single application can be found in the Digital wallpaper application.

Digital wallpaper is now available from the Google App Store and used on devices running Android 7.0 and above. Click Here
