Twitch issued a warning letter to launch a new round of copyright song crackdown

In an open letter to the anchor, Twitch stated that it has received a large number of delisting requests from music publishers, mainly using copyrighted songs (VOD) in recorded live content. According to the existing policy of the Twitch platform, if a channel is subject to three copyright strikes, then access to the platform is permanently prohibited. Therefore, this open letter is likely to be more sensitive to channels that have already been punished.

In an open letter published this Friday, Twitch wrote: “We have recently received a large number of DMCA takedown notices, including about 1,000 individual claims from music publishers. All claims are for VOD. The vast majority It is aimed at live broadcasters who listen to background music while playing video games or IRL streaming.”

Twitch considers these notifications to be automatic and warns that more notifications may appear. If you usually browse the Twitch platform a lot, background music will be used in many live broadcasts. A lot of music is copyrighted, which leads to a situation similar to this large-scale download when the music industry wants to get paid.

In an email on Friday, Twitch pointed out that the only way to avoid DMCA (or Digital Millennium Copyright Act) strikes is to refrain from circulating copyrighted material in the first place, and stated that if the circulator’s VOD or editing is indeed unauthorized “We strongly recommend that you permanently delete any content that contains this material.”
