Want to experience the latest Fuchsia OS on your computer?

Earlier this week, Google released Fuchsia OS, but it was initially only open to some first-generation Nest Hub users. Now, a group of independent developers has created an easier way to try and experience Fuchsia OS on your computer.

First of all, Fuchsia OS is developed under an open-source state, which means that developers can download the source code by themselves, then compile and modify it on the computer, and the system can run on compatible devices such as Google Pixelbook or emulators. Although it is feasible, the threshold for ordinary users is still very high.

To help solve this problem, the developers of Dahlia OS (a team of independent developers dedicated to integrating the advantages of Fuchsia and Linux into the desktop experience) have carefully designed a new project- Portable Fuchsia Emulator (FImage), Greatly reduce the experience threshold. The project packages everything needed for Fuchsia OS to run in the simulator, including a pre-built version of Fuchsia.

However, the FImage project still has certain thresholds. If you want to use it, the biggest problem is that you need to use the Linux distribution (preferably Ubuntu) on your computer to simulate this emulator. In addition, in order to get good performance in the emulation version of Fuchsia, you need to use a powerful computer-8GB or more of memory, Intel Core processor, discrete graphics, etc.

If your computer meets the specifications, basically you only need to download the latest FImage version, unzip it, and run a few terminal commands. With these, you can get Fuchsia up and running in minutes, instead of the usual hours to download and build Fuchsia from the source.

Remember, all you have is what is publicly available in the open-source code of the Fuchsia operating system. Just as the Android open source project does not include many enhancements seen on GooglePixel phones, this Fuchsia experience is obviously more basic, more for Google employees to test the application, rather than for anyone to use it in a real way.
