iPhone 13 will be equipped with LiDAR sensors as standard

In a memo to investors, Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives believes that Apple will provide up to 1TB of storage options in the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max two Pro models this year, and all systems are equipped with LiDAR sensors.

As early as in the investment memorandum in March this year, Ives predicted that the iPhone 13 series will provide up to 1TB of storage options, and this is again emphasized in the memo released today. Apple’s leaker Jon Prosser had previously predicted what might happen to the 1TB iPhone. The 1TB option will be twice the current maximum 512GB of the iPhone and will make the iPhone product line more consistent with the iPad Pro, which has two configurations of 1TB and 2TB.

On iPhone 12, Apple introduced ProRaw, a new format that combines RAW images with iPhone image processing. ProRAW files can be 10 to 12 times larger than typical HEIF or JPEG files. For more professional users, such as photographers who use the iPhone as one of their daily driving tools, the prospect of owning a 1TB iPhone may be very attractive.

Ives also reiterated that all models of iPhone 13, from the lowest-end iPhone 13 mini to iPhone 13 Pro Max, will be equipped with LiDAR sensors. The use of LiDAR is quite limited in its current form and is only used for low-light and augmented reality. In the past few years, Apple has been paying more attention to AR. The expansion of LiDAR to all iPhone models may be part of Apple’s plan to mainstream AR and the basic technologies it needs.
