Intel’s June wireless device driver update fixes blue screen and connection failure issues

Intel’s Windows 10 update in June 2021 resolved the blue screen of death error caused by the Wi-Fi driver. In addition, if you are having problems due to a yellow exclamation mark error in the Windows Device Manager when using a Bluetooth keyboard or headset, then you should also consider applying the latest Bluetooth driver update, which seems to have fixed these problems.

Intel released these two new wireless driver updates on June 1, and they are now available for download through Intel’s support and an assistant tool. In addition to critical bug fixes, Intel claims that it also fixes problems affecting Windows security issues in certain configurations and adapters 10.

This update does not bring any new features to try. If users choose to deploy the update, they will not notice any improvement in connectivity or performance. It’s also worth noting that these updates should only be installed when you really need them or if you have problems with current drivers.

The update version 22.50.1.1 is applicable to the following running Windows 10 May 2021 update and the following wireless adapters:

  • Version 22.50.1.1 Wi-Fi 6E AX210, AX201, AX200, Wireless-AC 9560, 9461/ 9462, 9260.
  • Version 20.70.23.1 Intel dual-band wireless-AC 8265 and 8260,
  • Version 19.51.35.2 version of dual-band wireless-AC 3165, 3168, and 7265 Family.

Before trying the new update of the Intel Wi-Fi driver, make sure you have a compatible wireless adapter installed on your computer. To verify your configuration, follow these steps:

  • Open the Device Manager from the Start menu or Windows search.
  • In the device manager, find “Network Adapter” and click on it to expand the adapter branch.
  • Find the version/version of the main adapter.
  • If the wireless adapter installed on your device matches one of the Intel adapters listed above, then you can proceed with the update. If your device is not listed, it is possible that similar updates will be provided through Windows Update in the near future.

The following is the update log of the Wi-Fi driver update:

  • Fixed an issue where the device manager reported that the wireless adapter was not working properly, which would happen when you share large files wirelessly.
  • Fixed connection issues, especially an error where users experienced the random loss of network connection.
  • Fixed the blue screen of the death error caused by the previous version of the driver.
  • Security & general bug fixes.
  • As mentioned at the beginning, there is another update for the Intel Bluetooth adapter. According to the update log, Intel has fixed a problem that when you try to connect to a mobile device through a PC, the Bluetooth device may not work properly, and a yellow exclamation mark error appears in the device manager.
  • When you try to connect to a mobile device, such as Microsoft Your Phone, via a PC, the Bluetooth device may not work properly and a yellow exclamation mark appears in the device manager.

How to get updates

  • Normally, if these fixes are necessary for the user’s device, they will be automatically rolled out to the user through Windows Update. If you can’t wait, you can always use Intel’s driver and support assistant tools.

Install the Intel Driver and Support Assistant (iDSA) tool from here. If you encounter unexpected problems, you can always use the Device Manager to roll back the new driver.
