iOS 15 allows users to apply for refunds for in-app purchases directly in the app

A small but useful new feature introduced in iOS 15 is that customers can apply for refunds directly from products purchased in the app without having to use the report issue page on Apple’s website. Generally speaking, writing an e-mail refund requires a higher explanation cost and a long wait.

Apple has introduced a new StoreKit API that allows developers to implement the request for refund option in their apps. The user can click on this option, select a specific in-app purchase, write down the question that prompted the refund request, and click the request refund button.

Once the request is submitted, the customer will receive an email from Apple within 48 hours to inform them of the latest status of the refund. When requesting a refund within the app, customers can still choose to visit the “Report a Problem” page on Apple’s website to check the status of the claim.

iOS 15 has now provided a beta version for developers and will be publicly released in the fall.
