Samsung pushes 8nm RF chip manufacturing process to attack the 5G field

Samsung announced the development of 8nm radio frequency (RF) chip process technology last week, hoping to seize the 5G field foundry orders. It is reported that Samsung has developed a unique 8nm RF dedicated architecture called RFextremeFET (RFeFETâ„¢), which can significantly improve RF characteristics while using less power.

Compared with 14nm RF, Samsung’s RFeFET complements digital PPA scaling and restores analog/RF scaling at the same time, thus realizing a high-performance 5G platform. In addition, the new 8nm RF chip can increase efficiency by 35% and reduce area by 35%.
