After Facebook launched VR ads, Oculus software developers run away

Last week, Facebook announced that it would start testing ads in the system of its Oculus virtual reality devices. In the next few weeks, ads will begin to appear in the VR shooting game Blaston launched by Resolution Games Studio and two other Oculus apps.

Today, Resolution Games studio announced its withdrawal from the advertising plan, because Blaston is a $ 9.9 paid game, but users still need to watch ads, so Blaston received a lot of negative reviews in the store. Tommy Palm, CEO of Resolution Games, announced that the company is changing direction based on player feedback.

Tommy Palm said: We realized that “Blaston” is not suitable for this type of advertising test, so we decided to withdraw from the advertising program. Facebook launched ads in Oculus’ mobile app last month, and this test will be Facebook’s first attempt to place ads on the Oculus VR platform itself.

Facebook said that it will gradually promote its advertising based on user feedback, saying that its purpose is to create a “self-sustaining platform” for VR development. At present, Facebook officials have not given a response, nor have they revealed which other developers are willing to participate in the test.
