How to enable DNS over HTTPS on Windows 11

DNS over HTTPS (DoH) is a secure domain name resolution solution. The meaning is to use the encrypted HTTPS protocol to make DNS resolution requests to avoid the problem of eavesdropping or modification of the user’s DNS resolution request in the original DNS protocol to achieve the purpose of protecting user privacy.

Currently, Windows 11 system has added support for this technology, this article will tell you how to enable it on the new system. How to set DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) on Windows 11? Proceed as follows:

  • Navigate to Settings>Network and Internet>Ethernet and WIFI.
  • Click Edit on the DNS Server Assignment item.
  • Switch the automatic (DHCP) setting to manual.
  • Enable the IPv4 button.
  • Enter 8.8.8.8 in the Preferred DNS box, and select Enable Encrypt- only (DNS over HTTPS).
  • Enter 1.1.1.1 in the Alternative DNS box, and also select Encrypt- only (DNS over HTTPS).
  • Click Save and your network should display like this.

  • Cloudflare: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 DNS servers.
  • Google: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4 DNS servers.
  • Quad9: 9.9.9.9 and 149.112.112.112 DNS servers.
