The redesigned Settings app in Windows 11 changed a lot

As Microsoft began to push the Windows 11 preview compiled version to Insider testers, the slots and highlights of the new generation of operating systems have begun to emerge one after another. In addition to UI improvements, the Sun Valley update scheduled to arrive in the second half of the year also introduces a redesigned Settings application.

It can be seen that it has made a lot of adjustments on the basis of the Settings application and control panel full of slots on Windows 10. Compared with Windows 10, the Settings application on Windows 11 has become completely different. It not only solves a lot of white space and improves the search experience, but also introduces a new navigation pane on the left.

The sidebar is similar to what we saw in the control panel, but all options have been replaced with new icons based on the Fluent Design language.

The new navigation menu on the left makes it easy for users to traverse different tabs. When browsing sub-pages such as Windows Update or Bluetooth, you can easily return to the main options (such as personalization and network).

Microsoft has also refreshed the WinUI experience so that users can better understand their current location after digging into the menu options. The new title bar at the top will highlight information such as the desktop background and common settings and can be customized as needed.

This design can be seen everywhere on many pages, such as Windows Update, Personalization, Network and Internet, and System. In addition, you can better control Windows updates, such as viewing the estimated restart wait time required for cumulative or security updates.

As expected, Windows 11 introduces new customization options. This includes a new personalized screen that allows users to switch between different themes. Users who use the touch screen keyboard can also personalize the background image of the input method UI, or change the size and color of the keys.

In fact, the Settings application in the Windows operating system has been launched for about ten years. Microsoft initially intended to completely replace the control panel in Windows 10, but unfortunately, until Windows 11, the control panel did not completely disappear.

As users who are accustomed to the interactive logic of the control panel, we found that Windows 11 will guide everyone to the new version of the Settings application as much as possible. Interested friends can apply to join the Insider program from now on to download and install the preview version of Windows 11.
