Mi MIX Flip clamshell new device patent appeared online

After the release of a new flat-panel MIX Fold folding screen similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold earlier this year, many people expect Xiaomi to release a second clamshell folding screen similar to the Galaxy Z Flip and Moto Razr (2019) within the year.

The device, which is the legendary MIX Flip model. Now, Dutch technology blog LetsGoDigital has finally revealed the new clamshell folding screen that the company is developing with dual front cameras + triple rear cameras.

Looking back in 2019, Xiaomi applied for a design patent for a clamshell machine with a pop-up camera. Earlier this year, the company also received a design patent for another clamshell machine with a small-size secondary screen.

The new patents exposed today suggest that Xiaomi has the idea of ​​further lowering the price of the MIX Flip clamshell smartphone. Although the official name of the new machine has not been disclosed yet, for the convenience of introduction, it is still called MIX Flip.

From the perspective of the patent illustrations, the biggest difference between the MIX Flip and the Moto Razr (2019) and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip lies in the shape of the rear three-camera and the missing external screen.

On July 2, 2021, the National Intellectual Property Office (CNIPA) officially granted Xiaomi a design patent for this folding screen smartphone with a front perforated dual camera + a rear circular triple camera. The sharp-eyed friend may have found it with the red rice Note 9T many similarities.

In addition, the overall MIX Fold still has a fairly modern appearance. Although after unfolding, the screen frame still appears to be thicker than the company’s other full-screen smartphones.
