According to the reports, it is widely expected that Apple will launch a new MacBook Pro series as early as this summer, with an upgraded Apple Silicon processor and a new design. Another rumored change is that Apple will abandon the controversial Touch Bar in favor of the traditional function bar. Now, analysts at Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) have confirmed this.

In a report released this week, DSCC explained that Touch Bar is currently the third-largest use of OLED displays. But its sources indicate that Apple will cancel the Touch Bar in future MacBook Pro’s. Apple also expects to use OLED displays in the iPad series in the next few years. This report explains:

Touch Bar continues to rank third with a sales share of 18% and a revenue share of 1.2% in the first quarter of 2021. We expect that when Apple begins to introduce the 10.9-inch AMOLED iPad, tablets will surpass the Touch Bar. In addition, our sources suggest that Apple may cancel the Touch Bar in the future.

The Touch Bar uses an OLED display to replace the traditional function keys and first appeared on the MacBook Pro in 2016. Many other sources, including Guo Mingchi and Bloomberg, said that Apple plans to cancel the Touch Bar when it redesigns the MacBook Pro this summer.
