Google makes July security update available for Pixel phones

Google’s Pixel phones will receive the July security update. Google shares a list of all vulnerabilities that have already been fixed with the latest security patch, and we list the overview for you.

Google security update July

In the accompanying Security Bulletin, Google states that it has closed a total of 20 vulnerabilities with the first security update of this year. The vulnerabilities range from high to critical. In the Pixel Phone Help community, Google also announces which bugs have been fixed specifically for Pixel phones.

Which vulnerabilities have been fixed?

In the image below you will find the improvements for the Pixel phones and that is only two this time. Pixel owners can look forward to exactly two additional changes: VoLTE support for certain networks and a fix for continuous reboots of devices under certain conditions.

We have not yet received any reports about the startup problems for Pixels. If this does bother you, this update should fix the problem. Google also doesn’t specify for which carriers it will add VoLTE support, so that remains a guess for now.

Install update

Do you have a Google Pixel 3 or newer? Then you get the patch via an over-the-air update (OTA). You can also install the update manually and you can read exactly how to do that here. The Factory Images can be found here and the OTA files can be found here.
