Samsung applies for a new batch of flexible screen trademarks such as Flex Note and Flex Clamshell

After leaking three trademark applications related to folding screens, Flex S, S Flex, and Flex B last week, Samsung Display was recently found to have submitted another 11 new-generation flexible screens to the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO).

Related trademark applications. These include Flex Note, Flex Clamshell, Flex Square, Flex N, Flex X, Flex Bar, R Flex, and Rollable Flex, Slidable Flex, Flex Rollable, and Flex Slidable. Dutch technology blog LetsGoDigital pointed out that although Samsung has no plans to launch the Galaxy Note 21 this year, the Flex Note screen is not unimaginable.

On July 6, 2021, Samsung Display submitted these 10 new trademark applications to KIPO, and they all belong to this registration category including smartphone screens, computer/flat panel displays, large LCD screens, and OLED display panels.

Among the many flexible screen trademarks, the name of Flex Note is very conspicuous, which means that Samsung may be developing a new Galaxy Note smartphone, and Flex Square is likely to be a square flexible display.

The names of Flex Clamshell, Flex Rollable and Flex Slidable are also quite intuitive, and remind us of several screen technologies that the company demonstrated in May of this year (including S-Foldable, rolling screen smartphones, and UPC hidden under the screen webcam).

Taking into account that Samsung Display is still developing a 17-inch flexible OELD screen suitable for folding screen notebook computers, it is expected that the new trademark will also have its use. Finally, we may get more details during the Galaxy Unpacked event next month, when Galaxy Z Fold 3/Galaxy Z Flip 3 folding screen smartphones (Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatches/Galaxy Buds 2 true wireless headphones) are also expected to be unveiled.
