A new generation Surface Pro X revealed to use Microsoft SQ2 chip to run Windows 11

The recent leak of the next-generation Microsoft Surface Pro X model equipped with the Windows 11 operating system reveals new developments in the design cooperation between the company and Qualcomm. It is reported that in order to bring a high-performance experience comparable to Apple M1, Microsoft has developed a highly integrated x86-64 emulation solution for Windows 11, so that users can seamlessly run x86_64 applications natively.

PC Watch pointed out that this next-generation Surface Pro X demo device running the Windows 11 operating system uses a Microsoft -branded processor. Thanks to the in-depth design cooperation with Qualcomm, Microsoft can handle hardware abstraction at the operating system level just like WOW64.

As for this Microsoft SQ2 chip, it uses an 8-core/8-thread CPU design and integrates a core display (iGPU) that meets the minimum UI requirements of the Windows 11 operating system. The performance is just enough to browse high-resolution video web pages. In addition, the operating frequency of “Microsoft SQ2” is up to 3.15GHz, supplemented by quite advanced L3 cache and LPDDR5 memory support.
