Tesla and Samsung sign a $400 Million camera order for Cybertruck

In November 2019, Tesla Cybertruck was officially released. With its individual appearance and design, the car has received continuous attention from car fans all over the world. Today, according to media reports, Tesla has reached an agreement with Samsung to equip the Tesla Cybertruck, which will begin production at the end of 2021, with a camera supply module.

According to reports, the size of this transaction reached 435.7 million US dollars, Cybertruck will use cameras to replace rear-view mirrors and side mirrors. It is worth mentioning that although Cybertruck has not been delivered yet, its booking volume has exceeded 1.2 million.

Judging from the information currently exposed, according to each Cybertruck will be equipped with at least 8 cameras, Tesla probably has a demand for nearly 10 million cameras. Therefore, for Samsung, US$435.7 million is only the beginning of this cooperation, and more and larger order opportunities are still to come.

It is understood that Cybertruck has set up a total of three electric systems for users to choose from single-motor rear-drive version ($39,900), dual-motor four-wheel-drive version ($49,900), and a three-motor four-wheel-drive version ($69,900).

In addition, not long ago, Tesla stated that it would completely abandon radar and choose a purely visual autopilot solution. After the new technical direction is determined, Tesla has raised the number and quality of cameras to a whole new level.

Yesterday, Tesla has officially launched the purely visual version of the FSD Beta V9 in the United States. Judging from the test videos posted on the Internet, the V9 version of the automated driving assistance system has greatly improved both in terms of visual experience and safety experience.
