Samsung may switch to Exynos 850 octa-core chipset for the 2021 Galaxy A12

After launching the affordable Galaxy A12 entry-level smartphone last year, it is reported that Samsung is planning to launch a new version this year. Now, a device with the model code SM-A127F has appeared on Samsung’s official support page, which means that the device will meet with you soon.

Previously, Samsung has been accustomed to providing Qualcomm Snapdragon (Snapdragon)/self-developed Orion (Exynos) two processors for the Galaxy S series smartphones. However, new news indicates that the Galaxy A series will also usher in different SoC options.

DealNTech reported that the 2021 Galaxy A21 (code-named SM-A127F) will be equipped with an Exynos 850 octa-core processor based on the 8nm process and integrated Mali-G52 GPU. Looking back at the Galaxy A12 (codename SM-A125F), which was first released in Europe in November 2020.

It uses the MediaTek Helio P35 chipset based on the 12nm process, supplemented by a storage combination of 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM. After upgrading the chipset, the 2021 Galaxy A21 will usher in better energy efficiency performance, but the rest of the design may remain unchanged.

Some users joked that SM-A127F is more suitable to be named Galaxy A12s. Even the recent Bluetooth certification and some early retail listings (via GizPie) mention this.

GizPie quoted a message listed on the website of a European retailer that the new SM-A127F may be priced at 157.90 Euros (approximately 1022 RMB), but this may only be a quotation for the 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM version.
