WhatsApp changes call UI, check what’s new in this UI

WhatsApp is coming with a new voice and video calling view in the beta version of the app, making it easier to add new participants to it. It also makes it easier to join an ongoing group call, even if you missed the call.

WhatsApp is testing a new call display in the beta version that significantly improves user-friendliness. The new-look is clearly inspired by FaceTime where the buttons are more prominent and have a different color. The end call button has been moved to the bottom row and is now next to the sound, microphone, and video switches.

Swiping up from the bottom row reveals the Add Participant button. This makes it easier to add new people to the conversation while still comfortably holding your phone in one hand. The old add participants switch in the top right corner is still there, but it will probably go away.

Join Missed Group Calls

Another nifty improvement in the latest beta is the ability to join group conversations after they’ve started. For example, if someone invited you to a group conversation, but you missed or ignored the invitation, WhatsApp will now show you a notification with Tap to join on the Calls tab.

This way you can quickly participate in the group conversation. At least, if the conversation is still going on. Previously, you had to ask the caller to rejoin you if you missed a call. But with the new update, you only need to invite people once and they can join the conversation at ease without having to add or invite them again.

The new look and group chat feature will be rolled out in the latest beta update of WhatsApp for Android and iOS. Both features are available at the editors in WhatsApp beta version 2.21.15.1. If you’re not part of the beta program, you can register here this way.
