Xiaomi’s Global smartphone market share reached 17% in Q2 2021

Canalys Research, a market research company, announced that in the second quarter of 2021, as the new coronavirus vaccine is launched around the world, it is a new normal for the economies and citizens of all countries. It began to take shape, and global smartphone shipments increased by 12%.

According to the report, Samsung was the leading smartphone supplier in the second quarter, accounting for 19% of total shipments. Xiaomi ranked second for the first time in history, with a market share of 17%. Apple ranked third with a 14% share, while Vivo and OPPO maintained strong growth momentum and ranked among the top five.

Canalys Research Manager Ben Stanton said: “Xiaomi’s overseas business is growing rapidly. For example, Xiaomi’s shipments in Latin America, Africa and Western Europe have increased by more than 300%, 150% and 50%, respectively.

With this growth, the company is evolving and is now transforming its business model from a challenger to an incumbent, taking measures such as channel partner integration and more careful management of old stocks on the open market. However, the company is still largely oriented towards the mass market, and its average selling price is about 40% and 75% lower than Samsung and Apple, respectively.

Stanton pointed out: Therefore, one of Xiaomi’s main priorities this year is to increase sales of high-end mobile phones such as Mi 11 Ultra. But this will be a tough battle because Oppo and Vivo also have the same goals and are willing to market online. Huge investment in the field to build its own brand in a different way from Xiaomi. In the context of global supply shortages, all suppliers are striving for the supply of parts, but Xiaomi has set its sights on the next prize: replacing Samsung, To become the largest supplier in the world.
