Sony releases IMX472-AAJK M4/3 CMOS sensor with 21.46 million effective pixels

According to the latest report, Sony Semiconductor released the IMX472-AAJK CMOS sensor this week, the product is M4/3 specifications, with 22.93 million total pixels, 21.46 million effective pixels. This product has a built-in 12bit A/D converter, which can output images at a high speed of 120fps and has a high-speed phase focusing function. In addition, the width of a single-pixel is 3.3 microns.

Sony’s CMOS sensor is not capable of outputting 5.7K resolution images due to insufficient resolution. Specifically, this sensor has a built-in 27dB programmable gain amplifier (PGA) and a 14-channel 12bit A/D converter. When the product outputs a 208,900-pixel 12bit screen, the speed can reach 121fps, and when it outputs 10bit, it can reach 158.4fps.

This means that the sensor can output fully sampled 4K video at a speed of up to 120fps, and the product is expected to be applied to Panasonic’s new generation of M4/3 mirrorless cameras.
