Tesla’s automatic shift feature will be open to all models equipped with FSD

Elon Musk tweeted that all Tesla cars equipped with fully autonomous driving (FSD) features will get automatic gear shifting. In other words, the new automatic shifting function that debuted on the new Tesla Model S and Model X will also be available on all Tesla models with full automatic driving (FSD) functions.

The news was announced when Elon Musk responded to an FSD Beta V9 tester on Twitter. Musk said: In the new Model S, you don’t even need to touch the shift lever. Optional features for all cars equipped with FSD.

Therefore, according to Musk, as long as there is FSD, Model 3 and Model Y will also get this automatic shift function. The automatic gear shifting function relies on radar and camera to recognize objects around the vehicle and automatically judges.

If the vehicle makes a mistake in judgment, people can manually intervene and only need to switch gears on the screen. When Musk talked about automatic gear shifting, he said that it can finally enable the vehicle to perform maneuvers such as three-point turns without requiring the driver to manually select gears.
