Android 12 simplifies the power menu feature options, causing a large number of test users

Google announced a new version of the Android 12 mobile operating system at the I/O Developers Conference earlier this year, and it is expected that the official version will arrive with the new Pixel smartphone this fall.

From the current developer preview and Beta test version, Google is still working hard to bring many changes in functionality and experience to Android 12. However, some of these changes have also caused strong dissatisfaction among users.

Google pointed out on the developer dashboard that the next beta version will arrive in August. If all goes well, the official version is expected to be ready for push sometime in September. The embarrassing thing is that the new design adjustments introduced for the first time in Android 12 Beta 2-especially the power menu, have severely ruined its goodwill in the Android community.

The user’s complaints are mainly focused on the removal of many functions from the Android 12 power menu. The old version of the menu also includes G Pay controls and various options for home devices. However, in the new version of the power menu, there are only three options: emergency, shutdown and restart.

Android Police pointed out that users can now access related controls that are missing from the power menu in the quick settings. In fact, in the Android 12 Beta 3 beta, a notification about this design change has been included-To in access G Pay and Home controls, please swipe down from the top of the screen.

However, for those users who are accustomed to the old version of the operation, this adjustment on the UI may be quite confusing for everyone. What’s more, the readability of the notification itself is very poor, and it is affected by the background and dimming effects.

Although most users may find it irrelevant, a Google employee still bluntly said on the bug tracking forum-If the design is intentional, our product will be doomed to fail! As for whether Google will make some adjustments in the subsequent Beta test version, it still needs time to test.
