Fitbit app issues lead to complaining users

The Fitbit app suffers from a lot of issues that prevent the health wearables from working properly and the app showing outdated information. This is evidenced by numerous complaints from affected users. It is still unclear when Fitbit will be able to fix the problems.

The issues with the Fitbit app have been going on for more than a week, at least since July 13. Users of a Fitbit smartwatch or tracker complain on the Fitbit forum and in the Google Play Store, among others. Complaints come from all over the world, including the Netherlands.

Many affected users state that the Fitbit app no longer syncs with their wearable. This is done via Bluetooth. Because the sync has stopped working for days, the app shows outdated health statistics and the wearable no longer adjusts its time if it has to. Some users are therefore now walking around (at their holiday destination) with a wearable that shows the wrong time, with no method to remedy this.

There are also complaints that the lack of synchronization leads to the failure of app notifications on a Fitbit smartwatch. Users will no longer receive notifications from applications that normally display messages on the wearable. Think of WhatsApp messages, but also your music via Spotify and text messages and incoming phone calls.

Solution not yet insight

Fitbit has confirmed the sync issues on its forum and says it is working on a fix. The company has not yet indicated when that solution should be available. Presumably, Fitbit can update its app in the Play Store to fix the issues. Until then, there seems to be no method for duped Fitbit customers to fix the sync issues.
