ING Banking now also works with facial recognition

Owners of the Google Pixel 4 or Google Pixel 4 XL who are customers of ING can now also use the advanced facial recognition of the phone with the ING Banking app.

ING’s mobile banking app now also works with the advanced form of facial recognition on his Pixel 4. That also applies to the Pixel 4 XL on the editorial board. This means that the mobile PIN no longer needs to be used to unlock the app, and the fingerprint icon can also be seen on the login screen again.

When you tap that icon, the Pixel 4 will show the usual screen asking you to scan your face to log in. When the app is started, that screen will also appear. Then tap confirm to open the app and get started with your finances.

In 2019 we already asked whether ING is working on a solution for the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. The Google Pixel 4 is equipped with an advanced form of facial recognition that uses multiple (infrared) sensors and its own radar chip.

The phone no longer has a fingerprint scanner and secure apps can only be unlocked via the Pixel 4’s facial recognition. Many apps such as Bitwarden now also support the Pixel 4’s facial recognition and ING’s mobile banking app.
