Report: OnePlus 8T/9R memory quietly upgraded from LPDDR4X to LPDDR5

The OnePlus 8T was released last year and the OnePlus 9R was released in March this year, both models use LPDDR4X memory. However, GSMArena reported that both models have now been upgraded to LPDDR5 specifications of fast memory. It is not clear when OnePlus has upgraded the memory of the OnePlus 8T/9R, and the company has not officially confirmed this change on its website, because the 8T specification page still says LPDDR4X memory, and the 9R list does not. Mention the type of memory.

We don’t know the reason behind the upgrade, but if you want to check whether your 8T/9R has LPDDR5 memory, you can install ADB on your PC and run the following command when your device is connected: ADB shell getprop ro.boot .ddr_type.

You can also install the Termux app on your smartphone to run the command, you do not need to add an ADB shell command. If the returned value is 0, your smartphone has LPDRR4X memory, if it is 1, then your device has LPDDR5 memory.
